Snapper season opens with a bang - Posted: 06/01/10
We ran 35 miles offshore in the bluest water you've ever seen in Capt Dewey's big Regulator. We had 8 on the boat including 8 year Ragan, she caught her 1st red snapper and a big b-liner. The rest of us got our 2 per person limit and we came home with 16 red snapper, 1 gag grouper, 2 b-liners and 1 black snapper!!!
The water is very very very clear out to 35 miles and my diver buds said the spear fishing was as good as ever seen due to visibility.
We are having a good king fishery with a 28 lb and 20 lber saturday on live hardtails and bump trolled. The bite is best with a little chop on the water and the afternoon bite has been very productive.
Nows the time to do a 6 hour combination trolling and bottom trip while the bite is hot and the breeze keeps it comfy.
