The weather and the fishing are just right...King mackerel on live bait....Mahi-mahi on jigs and dead Ly's and flounder on bull minnows. The Gulf temp is 82 and the water is very clear making Fall action one of opportunity fishing. Stay prepared for anything that happens by, last week we were catching bait for Kings and Mahi swam up...we pitched a #2 hook with no weight and a dead LY we were using for chum...Fish on.
For target species, the Flounder are staging and getting ready for the spawn on the next full moon, look around nearshore wrecks and reefs using live bull minnows on a 1/2 oz jighead or knocker rig. Also, the Aj's are still around wrecks as well and are hitting big threadfin herring freelined. The Fall Kings are bigger and badder as well as the Spanish mackerel, expect to keep this bite on til the water temps hit low 70's.
